Board Members of KSC
President, Charles Hickerson
Growing up on the family farm in Randolph County, I learned the value of hard work and gratitude for the gifts of the land. The Quaker Meeting while a student at Guilford College introduced me to meditation and the teaching of "that of God within". While serving in the Peace Corps in India, I was introduced to the smiling Tibetan refugees selling their scarves and hats on the streets of a warm climate. My friend and doctor, Patrick Fannes, introduced me to Lama Norlha Rinpoche, who has expanded my whole life beyond anything I could imagine. I am grateful for the mystery of the diverse, related threads weaving together into a wonderful future. The movement towards a powerful Presence of Tibetan Buddhism in this area is astounding. Gratitude....

More recently, he has made a connection with Lama Norhla Rinpoche. He is happy to be a small part of the effort to make the Buddhadharma available in an authentic way for seekers today and in future generations.

Treasurer, Cindy Helms
I began meditation as a child through my fascination with the ocean. I spent thirty years living, breathing, and gazing at the water where I was always able to find peace. My interest in more formal meditation took root at a Thai Buddhist Monastery and I’ve continued my study through the practice of Tai Chi under Shifu Patrick Fannes. I took refuge in Buddhism with Lama Norlha Rinpoche in 2011. My love for water is sustained by strengthening my body & mind as a water fitness, yoga/tai chi instructor.
